Cleaning Menstrual Blood from Clothes

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught a woman how to clean menstrual blood from her clothes.

It was narrated from Asma' bint Abi Bakr that a woman asked the Messenger of Allah about menstrual blood that gets on clothes. He said: "Scratch it, then rub it with water, then sprinkle water over it, and pray in it".
أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، - وَكَانَتْ تَكُونُ فِي حِجْرِهَا - أَنَّ امْرَأَةً اسْتَفْتَتِ النَّبِيَّ عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ حُتِّيهِ وَاقْرُصِيهِ وَانْضَحِيهِ وَصَلِّي فِيهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding cleaning menstrual blood from clothes. A woman asked him how to do this and he instructed her to scratch it off first, then rub it with water and sprinkle water over it. He also said that she could pray in the same clothes afterwards. This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our hygiene and cleanliness even during menstruation as well as respect our bodies by taking proper care of them. It also shows us that we can still perform religious duties such as praying even when we are not in a state of purity or cleanliness according to Islamic teachings. Lastly, this hadith reminds us that women should be respected for their natural bodily functions and not be shamed for them or made to feel embarrassed about them.
