The Purity of Water

SUMMARY: Water is not made impure by anything.

It was narrated from Ibn Abi Sa'eed Al-Khudri that his father said: "I passed by the Prophet when he was performing Wudu' from the well of Buda'ah. I said: 'Are you performing Wudu' from it when garbage is thrown into it?' He said: 'Water is not made impure by anything'."
أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، - وَكَانَ مِنَ الْعَابِدِينَ - عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ طَرِيفٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَوْفٍ، عَنْ سَلِيطٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ مَرَرْتُ بِالنَّبِيِّ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ بِئْرِ بُضَاعَةَ فَقُلْتُ أَتَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهَا وَهِيَ يُطْرَحُ فِيهَا مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنَ النَّتْنِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ الْمَاءُ لاَ يُنَجِّسُهُ شَىْءٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the purity of water and how it cannot be made impure by anything. It was narrated from Ibn Abi Sa’eed Al-Khudri that his father said he passed by the Prophet when he was performing Wudu’ from the well of Buda’ah. He asked if it was okay to perform Wudu’ from a well where garbage is thrown into it, and the Prophet replied that water is not made impure by anything. This hadith teaches us that water remains pure no matter what kind of dirt or garbage may be thrown into it, and this applies to all kinds of water including rivers, lakes, oceans, etc. It also teaches us that we should always respect cleanliness and hygiene even when we are performing religious rituals such as Wudu'. We should also take care to keep our environment clean so that our bodies can remain healthy and free from disease.
