Sahih Muslim 2973 (Book 55, Hadith 35) #14555
Poverty at the Time of Prophet Muhammad's Death

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's death and how his family was living in poverty.

'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger died (in such a state) that there had been nothing in my wooden tub which a living being could afford to eat but a handful of barley. I had been eating out of that for a fairly long duration when I thought of measuring it and it was almost finished.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the death of Prophet Muhammad and how his family was living in poverty. 'A'isha reported that when Allah's Messenger died, there was nothing left in her wooden tub but a handful of barley. She had been eating out of it for a long time before she realized it was almost finished. This shows us that even though he was a prophet, he still lived a life of poverty and humility. He taught us to be humble and not to be too attached to worldly possessions or wealth. He also showed us that we should not be ashamed if we are poor, as this does not make us any less worthy than those who have more money or possessions than us. We should strive to do our best with whatever resources we have available to us, no matter how little they may seem at first glance.
