Sahih Muslim 3004 (Book 55, Hadith 92) #14516
The Importance of Truthfulness

SUMMARY: It is important to not take down anything from the Prophet (PBUH) except for the Quran, and anyone who attributes any falsehood to him will find their abode in Hell.

Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger said: Do not take down anything from me, and he who took down anything from me except the Qur'an, he should efface that and narrate from me, for there is no harm in it and he who attributed any falsehood to me-and Hammam said: I think he also said:" deliberately" -he should in fact find his abode in the Hell-Fire.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of truthfulness and avoiding falsehood. It is narrated by Abu Sa’id Khudri that Allah's Messenger said, “Do not take down anything from me, and he who took down anything from me except the Qur'an, he should efface that and narrate from me, for there is no harm in it”. This means that we should only record what has been revealed in the Quran as it is divinely inspired and free of error or falsehood. Furthermore, if someone deliberately attributes any false statements to Allah's Messenger then they will find their abode in Hellfire as a punishment for their lies. This hadith serves as a reminder to us all about how important truthfulness is when speaking about matters related to religion or faith. We must always strive to be honest with ourselves and others so that we can maintain our integrity even when faced with difficult situations or conversations.
