Sahih al-Bukhari 1508 (Book 24, Hadith 108) #1447
Changes to Sadaqat-ul-Fitr during Muawiya's Caliphate

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the amount of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr that was given in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and how it changed when Muawiya became the Caliph.

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: In the lifetime of the Prophet we used to give one Sa' of food or one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley or one Sa' of Raisins (dried grapes) as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr. And when Muawiya became the Caliph and the wheat was (available in abundance) he said, "I think (observe) that one Mudd (of wheat) equals two Mudds (of any of the above mentioned things).

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity whenever possible, Follow leaders advice/teachings even if it means making changes from what you are used to doing before .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about how people used to give a certain amount of food, dates, barley or raisins as sadaqa al fitr in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When Muawiya became caliph, he suggested that one mudd of wheat should be equal to two mudds of any other food item mentioned above. This shows us that we should always be generous and help those who are less fortunate than us by giving charity whenever possible. It also teaches us that we should always follow the teachings and advice given by our leaders even if it means making changes from what we are used to doing before.
