The Grateful Servant of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of being a grateful servant to Allah and worshipping Him with dedication.

Mughira b. Shu'ba reported that Allah's Apostle worshipped so much that his feet were swollen. It was said to him: (Why do you undergo so much hardship despite the fact that) Allah has pardoned for you your earlier and later sins? Thereupon he said: May I not (prove myself) to be a grateful servant (of Allah)?
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلاَقَةَ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ، شُعْبَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى حَتَّى انْتَفَخَتْ قَدَمَاهُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَتَكَلَّفُ هَذَا وَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ أَفَلاَ أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of being a grateful servant to Allah and worshipping Him with dedication. It is narrated by Mughira b. Shu'ba that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was so devoted in his worship that his feet were swollen due to it. When asked why he was going through such hardship despite all his sins being pardoned by Allah, he replied that he wanted to be a grateful servant of God. This hadith teaches us the importance of dedicating ourselves in worshiping God and expressing our gratitude for His blessings upon us through our actions and deeds. We should strive to be devoted servants who are thankful for all the blessings bestowed upon us by our Lord Almighty and never forget His mercy upon us no matter what situation we are in or how much difficulty we face in life.
