Sahih Muslim 2779a (Book 51, Hadith 12) #14099
The Twelve Hypocrites and their Fate

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the twelve hypocrites and how eight of them will not enter Paradise until a camel can pass through the needle hole.

Qais reported: I said to 'Ammar: What is your opinion about that which you have done in case (of your siding with Hadrat 'Ali)? Is it your personal opinion or something you got from Allah's Messenger ? 'Ammar said: We have got nothing from Allah's Messenger which people at large did not get, but Hudhaifa told me that Allah's Apostle had especially told him amongst his Companion, that there would be twelve hypocrites out of whom eight would not get into Paradise, until a camel would be able to pass through the needle hole. The ulcer would be itself sufficient (to kill) eight. So far as four are concerned, I do not remember what Shu'ba said about them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the fate of twelve hypocrites who will not be allowed to enter paradise until a camel can pass through the needle hole. It is said that eight of these hypocrites will be killed by an ulcer before they even reach paradise while it is unclear what happened to the other four. This hadith serves as a warning for those who are hypocritical in their faith as they will face severe punishment in the afterlife if they do not repent for their sins on earth. It also teaches us that Allah knows all our intentions and actions, even if we try to hide them from others or ourselves.
