The Self-Respect of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah is the most self-respecting and He has prohibited abominable acts, both visible and invisible, because He loves His praise.

'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger as saying: None is more self-respecting than Allah and it is because of this that He has prohibited abominable acts-both visible and invisible-and none loves His praise more than Allah Himself.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ أَحَدٌ أَغْيَرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَلِذَلِكَ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلاَ أَحَدٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ الْمَدْحُ مِنَ اللَّهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the self-respect of Allah. It tells us that Allah is the most self-respecting being in existence and it is because of this that He has prohibited abominable acts, both visible and invisible. This means that any act which goes against His commands or teachings are not allowed by Him. Additionally, this hadith also tells us that none loves His praise more than Allah Himself. This means that we should always strive to do good deeds in order to please Him and gain His pleasure. We should also remember to thank Him for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us as a sign of our gratitude towards Him.
