Sahih Muslim 2754 (Book 50, Hadith 26) #14045
The Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah is more merciful and kind to His servants than a mother is to her child.

'Umar b. Khattab reported that there were brought some prisoners to Allah's Messenger amongst whom there was also a woman, who was searching (for someone) and when she found a child amongst the prisoners, she took hold of it, pressed it against her chest and provided it suck. Thereupon Allah's Messenger said: Do you think this woman would ever afford to throw her child in the Fire? We said: By Allah, so far as it lies in her power, she would never throw the child in Fire'. Thereupon Allah's Messenger said: Allah is more kind to His servants than this woman is to her child.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the mercy and kindness of Allah towards His servants. It was narrated by 'Umar b. Khattab, who reported that there were some prisoners brought before the Prophet Muhammad, including a woman who found a child amongst them and held it close to her chest, providing it with nourishment. Upon seeing this, the Prophet asked if anyone thought that this woman would ever throw her child into fire; everyone answered no as they knew she would never do such a thing out of love for her child. The Prophet then said that Allah is even more kind and merciful towards His servants than this woman is towards her own child. This hadith teaches us about the immense mercy and kindness of Allah which He bestows upon all His servants regardless of their faith or beliefs; He loves us all equally and provides us with countless blessings every day without expecting anything in return from us except our obedience to Him alone.
