Sahih Muslim 2687a (Book 48, Hadith 29) #13906
The Rewards of Goodness and Forgiveness of Vice

SUMMARY: Allah rewards those who come with goodness and forgives those who come with vice. He also draws close to those who draw close to Him.

Abu Dharr reported Allah's Messenger as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, stated: " He who comes with goodness, there are in store for him ten like those and even more than those: 'And he who comes with vice, ' it is only for that that he is called to account. I even forgive him (as I like) and he who draws close to Me by the span of a palm I draw close to him by the cubit, and he who draws close to Me by the cubit I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two hands, and he who walks towards Me I rush towards him, and he who meets Me in the state that his sins fill the earth, but not associating anything with Me, I would meet Him with the same (vastness) of pardon (on My behalf)". This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Waki'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do good deeds . Draw closer to God through faith & actions . Repent sincerely from bad deeds .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the rewards for doing good deeds and forgiveness for bad deeds. It is narrated by Abu Dharr that Allah's Messenger said that Allah stated that whoever comes with goodness will be rewarded ten times more than what they did, while whoever comes with vice will only be called to account for it. However, even if someone has done wrong, Allah still forgives them if they repent sincerely. Furthermore, if someone draws close to Him by a span of a palm, He will draw close to them by a cubit; if someone draws close to Him by a cubit, He will draw close to them by the space covered by two hands; and if someone walks towards Him then He rushes towards them. Even if one has committed sins so much that it fills the earth but still does not associate anything else with God then God would meet him/her with vast pardon on His behalf.
