Sahih Muslim 2587 (Book 45, Hadith 89) #13667
The Sin of Starting an Argument

SUMMARY: When two people are arguing, the one who starts it is the sinner as long as the other person does not respond with similar behavior.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: When two persons indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others boundaries during an argument; Remain calm during a disagreement; Take responsibility for your own actions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that when two people are arguing, it is important to remember that whoever started it is considered to be in the wrong. This means that even if both parties are saying hurtful things, the one who began it should take responsibility for their actions and try to make amends. It also reminds us that we should not respond with similar behavior if someone insults or hurts us; instead, we should remain calm and try to resolve the situation peacefully. We can learn from this hadith that even though arguments can be difficult and frustrating, we must always strive to maintain our composure and respect each other's boundaries.
