Sahih Muslim 2567a (Book 45, Hadith 47) #13625
The Love of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah loves us as much as we love Him for His sake.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle as saying: A person visited his brother in another town and Allah deputed an Angel to wait for him on his way and when he came to him he said: Where do you intend to go? He said: I intend to go to my brother in this town. He said: Have you done any favour to him (the repayment of which you intend to get)? He said: No, excepting this that I love Mm for the sake of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious. Thereupon he said: I am a Messenger to you from, Allah: (to inform you) that Allah loves you as you love him (for His sake).

QUICK LESSONS:
Love others for the sake of Allah .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the immense love that Allah has for us, and how it is reciprocated when we love Him for His sake. It is narrated by Abu Huraira, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He reported that the Prophet ﷺ said that a person visited his brother in another town and on his way, an angel was sent by Allah to meet him. The angel asked him where he was going and if he had done any favour to his brother which he expected in return. The man replied saying no, excepting that he loved him for the sake of Allah alone. To this, the angel replied saying that he was sent by God to inform him that God loves him just as much as he loves Him for His sake. This hadith teaches us about the immense love of God towards us and how it should be reciprocated with our own love towards Him too!
