Diminishing Ages During the Lifetime of Allah's Apostle

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the diminishing of ages of people during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Apostle as saying one mouth before his death (or something like it): None amongst the created beings who had been living by that time (during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle)'.Abd al-Rahman has interpreted these words of Allah's Apostle as: The ages (of the people) would be diminished.
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ، قَالَ ابْنُ حَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِشَهْرٍ أَوْ نَحْوِ ذَلِكَ ‏ "‏ مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ الْيَوْمَ تَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا مِائَةُ سَنَةٍ وَهْىَ حَيَّةٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، صَاحِبِ السِّقَايَةِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ وَفَسَّرَهَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ نَقْصُ الْعُمُرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Jabir b. 'Abdullah and it talks about how during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle, people's ages were diminishing. It was interpreted by Abd al-Rahman that these words meant that people would be living shorter lives than before. This hadith teaches us to appreciate our life and make use of every moment we have in this world as it is a blessing from God and can be taken away at any time. We should also remember to always follow the teachings and guidance given by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as he was sent down to us with divine knowledge from God Almighty Himself.
