SUMMARY: This hadith encourages people to learn the Quran from four specific people.

Masruq reported: We used to go to Abdullah b. 'Amr and talk to him, Ibn Numair said: One day we made a mention of Abdullah b. Mas'ud, whereupon he said: You have made mention of a person whom I love more than anything else. I heard Allah's Messenger as saying: Learn Qur'an from four persons: Ibn Umm 'Abd (i. e. 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud) he started from him-then Mu'adh b. Jabal and Ubayy b. Ka'b, then Salim the ally of Abu Hudhaifa.

QUICK LESSONS:
Learn Quran from knowledgeable sources, Respect those who have knowledge even if they are not your teacher/mentor

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages Muslims to learn the Qur'an from four specific individuals. These individuals are Abdullah b. Mas'ud, Mu'adh b. Jabal, Ubayy b. Ka’b and Salim, who was an ally of Abu Hudhaifa. Abdullah b. Mas’ud is mentioned first as he was one of the most knowledgeable companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and was known for his deep understanding of the Qur’an and its teachings. The other three were also renowned for their knowledge in this regard and were respected by many in their time for their expertise in this field. This hadith serves as a reminder that learning should be done with those who have knowledge and experience so that we can gain a deeper understanding of our faith and its teachings rather than relying on hearsay or guesswork when it comes to religious matters such as learning about Islam or studying the Qur’an itself.

It also teaches us that we should respect those who have knowledge even if they are not necessarily our teachers or mentors because they may still be able to provide us with valuable insight into our faith which can help us grow spiritually and become better Muslims overall.
