Sahih al-Bukhari 1359 (Book 23, Hadith 112) #1304
The True Faith of Islam

SUMMARY: Every child is born with a true faith of Islam, but their parents may convert them to other religions.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (ie to worship none but Allah Alone) but his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or Magianism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?" Then Abu Huraira recited the holy verses: "The pure Allah's Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (ie worshipping none but Allah) with which He has created human beings. No change let there be in the religion of Allah (ie joining none in worship with Allah). That is the straight religion (Islam) but most of men know, not". (30:30)

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect each person's right to choose their own religion .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith by Abu Huraira explains that every child is born with a true faith of Islam. This means that all children are born believing in the one God and worshipping Him alone. However, their parents may choose to convert them to other religions such as Judaism or Christianity. To emphasize this point further, Abu Huraira recited the verse from the Quran which states that Allah has created humans with an innate belief in Him and His religion and it should not be changed. This hadith teaches us that we should respect each person's right to choose their own religion without any pressure or coercion from others. It also reminds us of our responsibility as parents to ensure our children are raised in an environment where they can freely practice whatever religion they choose without fear or judgement from others.
