Sahih Muslim 2225b (Book 39, Hadith 157) #12895
Superstition and False Beliefs

SUMMARY: This hadith teaches that there is no such thing as transitive diseases, ill omens, or bad luck caused by a house, wife, or horse.

'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger as saying: There is no transitive disease, no ill omen, and bad luck is found in the house, or wife or horse. Note: The majority of scholars interpret this to mean that these things in and of themselves do not transmit or cause harm through supernatural or hidden means but that Allah is ultimately in control and any fearful superstition around these is false.
