Naming a Newborn Child

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) named a newborn child Ibrahim and rubbed his palate with dates.

Abu Musa reported: A child was born in my house and I brought him to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and he gave him the name of Ibrahim and he rubbed his palate with dates.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَرَّادٍ الأَشْعَرِيُّ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ وُلِدَ لِي غُلاَمٌ فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَمَّاهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَحَنَّكَهُ بِتَمْرَةٍ
