QUICK LESSONS:
Dress modestly according to culture and religion

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a question posed to Anas b. Malik, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The question was regarding which garment did Allah's Messenger love or like to wear. He answered that it was the mantle of Yemen, also known as thawb al-Yaman in Arabic. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to dress modestly and appropriately according to our culture and religion, as this is what Allah's Messenger did himself. It also shows us how much respect we should have for our elders and those who are knowledgeable in religious matters; by asking Anas b. Malik this question, Qatada showed his reverence for him as a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
