Luxurious Clothing and Meeting Needs

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warning against wearing luxurious clothing and instead using the proceeds to meet one's needs.

Abdullah b. Umar reported: 'Umar b. at-Khattab found a silk garment being sold in the market; he purchased it and brought it to Allah's Messenger and said: Allah's Messenger, get it and adorn yourself (by wearing it) on the 'Id (days) and for the delegation. Thereupon, Allah's Messenger said: That is the dress of one who has no share (in the Hereafter)'.Umar stayed there so long as Allah wished. Then Allah's Messenger sent him a silk cloak'.Umar came back with that to Allah's Messenger and said: Allah's Messenger. you said that it is the dress of one who has no share in the Hereafter, but then you sent it to me. Thereupon, Allah's Messenger said: You sell it and meet your need (with its proceeds).

QUICK LESSONS:
Spend money wisely; Prioritize helping others over buying luxury items; Use resources to meet your own needs or those of others around you; Be generous with your wealth; Be mindful when spending money on yourself

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to a very important lesson, which is that we should not be too concerned with material possessions or luxury items, as they will not benefit us in our afterlife. Instead, we should use our resources to meet our needs and help others in need. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against wearing luxurious clothing such as silk garments, as it was a sign of someone who did not have any share in the Hereafter. He instead suggested that Umar sell it and use its proceeds for his own needs or those of others around him. This teaches us that we should be mindful of how we spend our money and prioritize helping those around us over buying expensive items for ourselves.
