This hadith is about the prohibition of preparing Nabidh in a pitcher besmeared with pitch. Nabidh is an Arabic drink made by soaking dates or raisins in water and leaving it to ferment for several days. Huntama is an Arabic word for pitcher which has been smeared with pitch or tar to make it waterproof and airtight. According to this hadith, Prophet Muhammad forbade people from preparing this drink in such pitchers as it was considered unhealthy and impure according to Islamic teachings at that time.
