This hadith speaks about the importance of mercy even in difficult situations such as when someone gets angry or has been wronged by another person. In this case, a man got angry and slapped his slave-girl, but Suwaid b. Muqarrin reminded him that he could have chosen another part of her body to slap instead of her face, which is considered more prominent than other parts of the body in terms of respectability and dignity for humans in general. Furthermore, when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) heard about this incident he commanded them to set the slave-girl free as an act of mercy towards her despite what she had done wrong or how she was treated by her master before that moment.
