Look for a superior option before making any decisions or promises; fulfill your obligations towards others even when you are in difficult situations yourself; be honest with yourself and others; practice self-control; show compassion towards those around you; take responsibility for your actions/words/promises etc..

This hadith is about the importance of not taking an oath if one finds something better than that. It was narrated by Tamim b. Tarafa and 'Adi b. Hatim, who reported that a person came to 'Adi asking for one hundred Dirhams, to which he replied he would not give it as he was the son of Hatim, but then remembered what Prophet Muhammad said - He who takes an oath, but then finds something better than that, should do that which is better - and decided against taking the oath in this case as there was a superior option available to him. This hadith teaches us to always look for a better option before making any decisions or promises and also reminds us of our obligations towards others even when we are in difficult situations ourselves.
