Sahih Muslim 1536o (Book 21, Hadith 119) #11046
Cultivating Land and Lending Without Rent

SUMMARY: It is recommended to cultivate land, but if it is not possible, one should lend it to a Muslim brother without taking rent.

Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: He who has land should cultivate it, but if he does not find it possible to cultivate it, or finds himself helpless to do so, he should lend it to his Muslim brother, but he should not accept rent from him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Cultivate your own land or lend it out without taking rent

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages Muslims to cultivate their land and make use of its resources. If they are unable to do so, they should lend the land out to another Muslim without taking any rent in return. This teaches us that we should be generous with our resources and help others in need even if we don't get anything back in return. We can also learn from this hadith that we should take care of our environment by cultivating the land instead of leaving it barren or unused.
