Sahih Muslim 1542e (Book 21, Hadith 96) #11024
Forbidden Practice of Muzabana

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade the practice of Muzabana, which is a type of trade involving exchanging dry dates for fresh dates on the tree with a predetermined measure.

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger having forbidden Muzabana, and Muzabana implies the selling of dry dates for fresh dates on the tree with a definite measure (making it clear) that in case it increases, it belongs to me and if it is less, it is my responsibility.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest and fair in your dealings and transactions with others. Ensure all parties involved are aware of any potential risks associated with their agreement before entering into any transaction.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade the practice of Muzabana, which is a type of trade involving exchanging dry dates for fresh dates on the tree with a predetermined measure. This means that if there are more or less than what was agreed upon, it would be up to either party to take responsibility for it. This hadith teaches us that we should always be honest and fair in our dealings and transactions with others. We should not try to take advantage or deceive someone else in any way when trading goods or services. We must also ensure that all parties involved are aware of any potential risks associated with their agreement so they can make an informed decision before entering into any transaction.
