Sahih Muslim 1446a (Book 17, Hadith 14) #10718
Prohibiting Marriage with Foster Relatives

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) not marrying his foster brother's daughter, even though she was from the Quraish tribe.

'Ali (Allah be pleased with him) reported having said this: Messenger of Allah, why is it that you select (your wife) from among the Quraish, but you ignore us (the nearest of the kin)? Thereupon he said: Have you anything for me (a suitable match for me)? I said; Yes, the daughter of Hamza, whereupon Allah's Messenger said: She is not lawful for me, for she is the daughter of my brother by reason of fosterage.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic Law , Be Fair & Just in Decisions & Actions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's decision to not marry his foster brother's daughter, even though she was from the same tribe as him. The Prophet Muhammad was known for being a fair and just leader, and this hadith shows that he did not allow any special treatment for himself or his family. He chose to follow Islamic law and prohibited marriage between foster relatives. This teaches us that we should always strive to be fair in our decisions and actions, no matter who it affects. We should also remember that Islamic law must be followed at all times, even if it means making a difficult decision or sacrificing something we want.
