Sahih Muslim 1445d (Book 17, Hadith 7) #10711
Kindness and Generosity towards Relatives

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaching 'A'isha (RA) to be kind and generous to her uncle, Abu'l Qulais, who was married to the woman who had suckled her.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters (that 'A'isha said): There came Aflah, the brother of Abu'l Qulais (Allah be pleased with him), and sought permission from her, the rest of the hadith is the same (except for the words that the Holy Prophet) said:" He is your uncle. Let your hand be besmeared with dust. Abu'l Qulais was the husband of the woman who had suckled 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her).

QUICK LESSONS:
Showing kindness & generosity to relatives

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on kindness and generosity towards relatives. When Aflah, the brother of Abu'l Qulais came seeking permission from 'A'isha, he was her uncle as he was married to the woman who had suckled her. The Prophet Muhammad then taught 'A'isha that she should be kind and generous towards him by letting her hand be besmeared with dust. This teaches us that we should always show kindness and generosity towards our relatives no matter what their relationship may be with us. We should also remember that Allah loves those who are kind and generous in their relationships with others.
