Praying Two Rak'at During Travel

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions traveled from Medina to Mecca and offered two rak'at for every prayer during their stay of ten days.

Narrated Yahya bin 'Is-haq: I heard Anas saying, "We traveled with the Prophet from Medina to Mecca and offered two rak'at (for every prayer) till we returned to Medina". I said, "Did you stay for a while in Mecca?" He replied, "We stayed in Mecca for ten days".

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer two rak'ats for every prayer while travelling instead of four .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's journey from Medina to Mecca with his companions. During this journey, they offered two rak'ats for every prayer instead of the usual four. This shows that when one is traveling it is permissible to offer two rak’ats instead of four in each salah or prayer. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our religious obligations even when we are on a journey and not neglect them due to our travels. Furthermore, it teaches us that Allah has given us flexibility in certain matters such as offering fewer raka’as while traveling so that we can fulfill our religious duties without too much difficulty or hardship.
