QUICK LESSONS:
Obey God’s commands ; Perform rituals during Hajj ; Throw pebbles at jamrah .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to perform many rituals during his pilgrimage to Makkah. One such ritual was throwing pebbles at jamra which is a stone pillar located in Mina. This ritual is done on three days during Hajj - the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhu'l-Hijja - after sunrise when the sun has declined. It symbolizes stoning Satan who tempted Abraham to disobey Allah's commandment to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience and submission to Allah's will. By performing this ritual, Muslims are reminded that they should always obey Allah's commands even if it means sacrificing something precious or difficult for them.
