Combining Prayers on Arafat Day

SUMMARY: Usama b. Zaid reported that he saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) perform ablution and combine the sunset and 'Isha' prayers while returning from Arafa.

Usama b. Zaid (Allah be pleased with him) reported that he sat behind Allah's Messenger on his ride as he came back from 'Arafa. And as he came to the valley, he halted his camel, and then went to the wilderness (to urinate). And when he came back, I poured water on him from the jug and he performed ablution, and then rode on until he came to Muzdalifa and there he combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers.

EXPLANATIONS:
On his journey back from 'Arafa, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stopped his camel in a valley and went to the wilderness to urinate. After he returned, Usama b. Zaid poured water on him from a jug so that he could perform ablution before continuing his ride until they reached Muzdalifa where he combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers. This hadith teaches us about combining two prayers at one time which is permissible during certain occasions such as when travelling or when it is raining heavily etc., It also teaches us about performing ablution before prayer which is an important part of Islamic ritual worship as it helps cleanse our body and soul for prayer. Additionally, this hadith also serves as an example of how we should take care of our bodily needs even during times of worship or religious activities like Hajj pilgrimage etc.,
