SUMMARY: Umar kissed the stone and explained that he saw the Prophet Muhammad kissing it, so he followed suit.

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported that Umar (Allah be pleased with him) kissed the Stone and said: I am kissing you, whereas I know that you are a stone, but I saw Allah's Messenger kissing you (that Is why I kiss you).

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah's Messenger, Have faith in His judgement

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad. It tells us that even if we don't understand why something is done, if we saw our beloved prophet doing it, then we should follow suit. Umar was kissing a stone and when asked why he said that he saw Prophet Muhammad doing it so he followed him. This teaches us to be humble and obedient to Allah's messenger even if we don't understand why something is being done. We should have faith in Allah's messenger and trust his judgement as well as his actions.
