Sahih Muslim 1219a (Book 15, Hadith 163) #10098
Hurrying from 'Arafat in Islam

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the significance of the words of Allah in the Quran, which commands Muslims to hurry from 'Arafat.

'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Quraish (of the pre-Islamic days) and those who followed their religions practices stayed at Muzdalifa, and they named themselves as Hums, whereas all other Arabs stayed at 'Arafa. With the advent of Islam, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, commanded His Apostle to come to 'Arafat and stay there, and then hurry from there, and this is the significance of the words of Allah: " Then hasten on from where the people hasten on".

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey God's commands and follow Islamic teachings instead of those practiced by non-Muslims .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains an important commandment given by Allah in the Quran. Before Islam, people used to stay at Muzdalifa and call themselves Hums, while all other Arabs stayed at 'Arafa. However, with the advent of Islam, Allah commanded His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to come to 'Arafa and stay there before hurrying away. The significance of this is found in the words of Allah that say "Then hasten on from where the people hasten on". This teaches us that we should follow what is commanded by Allah and not be influenced by what others do or believe. We should also strive to obey His commands as quickly as possible so that we can benefit from them fully.
