Types of Ihram for Hajj and Umra

SUMMARY: Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) explains the different types of Ihram for Hajj and Umra.

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: Some among us put on Ihram for Hajj alone (Hajj Mufrad) ; some of us for Hajj and Umra together (Qiran), and some of us for Tamattal (first for Umra and after completing it for Hajj).

QUICK LESSONS:
Wear appropriate clothing while performing pilgrimage rituals such as Hajja or 'Umrah.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the different types of iḥrām that can be worn when performing Ḥajj or ‘Umrah. The first type is called Ḥajj Mufrad, which is when someone wears iḥrām only for Ḥajj. The second type is called Qiran, which is when someone wears iḥrām for both Ḥajj and ‘Umrah together. The third type is called Tamattu‘, which means that someone wears iḥrām first for ‘Umrah and then after completing it they wear it again to perform Ḥajj. All three types are permissible according to this hadith narrated by A'isha (Allah be pleased with her).
