Sahih Muslim 1116a (Book 13, Hadith 121) #9760
Fasting During Expedition

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that during an expedition, some people fasted and some did not, but neither group judged the other for their decision.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported: We went out on an expedition with Allah's Messenger on the 16th of Ramadan. Some of us fasted and some of us broke the fast. But neither the observer of the fast found fault with one who broke it, nor the breaker of the fast found fault with one who observed it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect each other's opinions even if they differ from our own

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of a situation in which the Prophet Muhammad and his companions went on an expedition during Ramadan. Some of them chose to fast while others chose not to. Despite this difference in opinion, neither group judged or criticized the other for their decision. This teaches us that we should respect each other's opinions even if they differ from our own. We should also be tolerant of those who make different choices than us without passing judgment on them or criticizing them for it.
