Sahih Muslim 1109c (Book 13, Hadith 97) #9736
Fasting While Junub

SUMMARY: A person should not break their fast if they are in a state of junub and the dawn breaks upon them.

Abu Bakr reported that Marwan sent him to Umm Salama to ask whether a person should observe fast who is in a state of junub and the dawn breaks upon him, whereupon she said that the Messenger of Allah (was at times) Junbi on account of intercourse and not due to sexual dream, and the dawn broke upon him, but he neither broke the fast nor recompensed.

QUICK LESSONS:
Observe fasting even when one is in a state of junub.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fasting while in a state of junub, which is when one has had sexual intercourse or experienced a wet dream. The Prophet Muhammad was sometimes in this state but he did not break his fast nor recompense it. This teaches us that even if we are in a state of junub, we should still observe our fasts as normal and not make up for it later on. We should also remember that Allah knows our intentions and will forgive us for any mistakes we make out of forgetfulness or ignorance.
