This hadith is about a verse from the Quran which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The verse states that one should eat and drink until they can distinguish between the white streak and dark streak of dawn, known as Fajr. A person would take hold of a white thread and black thread to try to find this distinction, but it was not clear what this meant until Allah revealed 'min al-fajr' meaning from dawn, making it clear that Khait refers to the light at dawn. This teaches us that we should be mindful when eating or drinking during night time so we don't overindulge ourselves before morning comes.
