It is narrated by Abu Huraira that Allah's Messenger said when it is the month of Ramadan, then the gates of mercy will be opened and at this time, all doors to hell will be locked and devils will be chained. This means that during this blessed month, Allah's mercy will be abundant for those who seek it. It also means that during this time, people should stay away from sins as they can easily lead them to hellfire. Furthermore, it teaches us to take advantage of this blessed period by doing good deeds in order to receive Allah's blessings and forgiveness.
