Sahih Muslim 1076 (Book 12, Hadith 227) #9626
Charity Reaches its Proper Place

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was pleased when a gift of charity was given to his wife Aisha.

Umm 'Atiyya, said: The Messenger of Allah sent me some mutton of sadaqa. I sent a piece out of that to 'A'isha. When the Messenger of Allah came to 'A'isha, he said: Have you anything with you (to eat)? She said: Nothing, except only that mutton sent to us by Nusaiba (the kunya of Umm 'Atiyya) which you had sent to her. Whereupon he said: It has reached its proper place.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity and gifts generously with an open heart. Be thankful for what you receive from others as it could be a blessing from Allah SWT in disguise.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of charity and giving gifts. It is narrated by Umm 'Atiyya, who sent a piece of mutton from her sadaqa to Aisha, the wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). When the Prophet came to Aisha, he asked if she had anything to eat and she told him about the mutton that Umm Atiyya had sent her. Upon hearing this, he said that it has reached its proper place. This shows us how important it is for us to give charity and gifts as they will reach their proper place in due time. We should also be thankful for what we receive from others as it could be a blessing from Allah SWT in disguise.
