Sahih Muslim 1070b (Book 12, Hadith 214) #9613
Generosity of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was so generous that he would not even eat a date if he thought it may have been given as charity.

Out of so many ahadith which Hammam b. Munabbih narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira from the Messenger of Allah one is this that the Messenger of Allah said: I go back to my family and I find a date lying on my bed or in my house, and I take it up to eat it, but then I throw it away fearing that it may be a Sadaqa or from Sadaqa.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous and kind towards others
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the generosity and kindness of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was so generous that even when he found a date lying in his house, he would not eat it unless he was sure it wasn't given as charity. This shows us how important it is to be generous and kind to others, especially those who are less fortunate than us. We should always strive to give back what we can, whether it's money or time, in order to help those in need. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about being mindful and aware of our actions; even something as small as eating a date can have an impact on someone else's life if we are not careful with our choices.
