Sahih Muslim 1042b (Book 12, Hadith 138) #9537
The Virtue of Hard Work

SUMMARY: It is better to work hard and earn money through honest means than to rely on others for sustenance.

Qais b. Abu Hizam reported: We came to Abu Huraira and he told Allah's Messenger having said this: By Allah, (it is better) that one among you should go and bring a load of firewood on his back and he should sell it, and the rest of the hadith was narrated (like the previous one).

QUICK LESSONS:
Work hard and earn an honest living

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the virtue of hard work and earning money through honest means. It encourages people to be independent and not rely on others for their sustenance. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have said that it is better for one among us to go out, get a load of firewood, sell it, and use the money earned from it as a source of income rather than relying on someone else for sustenance. This hadith teaches us that we should strive hard in order to make an honest living instead of depending on others or taking shortcuts in life. We should also remember that Allah will provide us with our needs if we put in the effort required from us.
