Sahih Muslim 1016a (Book 12, Hadith 84) #9483
Protecting Oneself from the Fire

SUMMARY: One should do whatever they can to protect themselves from the Fire, even if it is with something as small as half a date.

'Adi b. Hatim reported that he heard Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying: He who among you can protect himself against Fire, he should do so, even if it should be with half a date.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do whatever you can to protect yourself against fire
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of protecting oneself from the Fire, which is a reference to Hellfire in Islamic teachings. It encourages people to do whatever they can, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, in order to save themselves from this punishment. Even something as simple and seemingly insignificant as half a date can be enough for one's protection against Hellfire. This hadith teaches us that we should never underestimate our own efforts and that we should always strive for self-improvement and righteousness in order to save ourselves from eternal punishment.
