Provide sustenance to dependents

This hadith emphasizes the importance of providing sustenance to those who are dependent on us. It was narrated by Khaithama, that while he was sitting in the company of Abdullah ibn Umar, his steward came in and asked if he had supplied provision for his slaves. Abdullah ibn Umar then said that they should be given their provision as it is a sin to withhold subsistence from someone whose master you are. This hadith teaches us that we must provide for those who depend on us and not deprive them of their basic needs. We should also remember that withholding sustenance from someone is a great sin and can have serious consequences both in this world and the hereafter.
