QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity during Ramadan .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the practice of giving out a certain amount of food items as charity during the month of Ramadan known as the Zakat al-Fitr. It was traditionally given in the form of one sa’ which is equivalent to four mudds or two kilograms and a half in modern measurements. This could be given in any form such as grain, barley, dates, cheese or raisins depending on what was available at that time and place. This act symbolizes our gratitude for all that we have been blessed with and reminds us to share our blessings with those who are less fortunate than us. It also serves to purify our fast from any indecent words or actions we may have committed during Ramadan and helps us start off Shawwal on a clean slate by doing good deeds for others in need.
