Prohibiting Plastering Graves and Building Structures Over Them

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade people from plastering graves, using them as sitting places, or building structures over them.

Jabir said: Allah's Messenger forbade that the graves should be plastered or they be used as sitting places (for the people), or a building should be built over them.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي، الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُجَصَّصَ الْقَبْرُ وَأَنْ يُقْعَدَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings regarding graves. He forbade people from plastering graves, using them as sitting places, or building structures over them. This hadith teaches us to respect the dead and not to disturb their resting place by making it a place of leisure or by constructing buildings on top of it. It also teaches us that we should not use the grave for any purpose other than burying the deceased in it.
