The Reward of Praying for the Dead

SUMMARY: Praying for the dead and attending their burial is rewarded with a great reward.

Thauban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah reported Allah's Messenger as saying: He who offered prayer for the dead, for him is the reward of one qirat, and he who attended its burial, he would have two Qirats as his reward. And qirat is equivalent to Uhud.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how praying for the dead and attending their burial is greatly rewarded. It states that whoever offers prayer for a deceased person will be rewarded with one qirat, while whoever attends their burial will be rewarded with two qirats. A qirat is equivalent to Uhud which was a mountain near Madinah where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ fought in battle against his enemies. This hadith teaches us that we should always remember our deceased loved ones in our prayers and attend their funerals as it brings great rewards from Allah SWT.
