Prayer Before Sermon on Eid

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of offering prayer before delivering a sermon on the day of Eid.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I offered the 'Id prayer with Allah's Messenger , Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthman and all of them offered the prayer before delivering the Khutba.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ شَهِدْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ ـ رضى الله عنهم ـ فَكُلُّهُمْ كَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of offering prayer before delivering a sermon on the day of Eid. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that he offered the 'Id prayer with Allah's Messenger, Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman and all of them offered the prayer before delivering Khutba. This shows that it is important to offer prayers first and then deliver a sermon as it was done by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions. It also teaches us to follow in their footsteps in order to gain blessings from Allah SWT. Furthermore, this hadith also emphasizes that we should not forget our religious obligations even during special occasions like Eid when people are usually busy with other activities such as shopping for new clothes or preparing food for guests etc.
