Sahih Muslim 906b (Book 10, Hadith 16) #9255
The Prophet's Long Duration of Prayer

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performing qiyam and ruku' for a long duration, and how Asma' noticed two women who were older and weaker than her.

Abu Juraij narrated this hadith with the same chain of transmitters (but with the addition of these words): " It was for a long duration that he (the Holy Prophet) observed qiyam and he would then observe ruku'. (The narrator also added) I (Asma') looked at a woman who was older than I, and at another who was weaker than I.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly as an act of worship to Allah SWT

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer in Islam. It tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would perform qiyam, which is standing during prayer, and ruku', which is bowing during prayer, for a long duration. Asma', one of his wives, noticed two other women who were older than her and weaker than her also performing these prayers with him. This shows us that regardless of age or strength level, it is important to pray regularly as an act of worship to Allah SWT. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of those around us when we are praying so that we can learn from them how to properly perform our prayers.
