Sahih Muslim 878a (Book 7, Hadith 78) #9175
Reciting Specific Surahs on Special Occasions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite two specific surahs on two different occasions, and when the two occasions coincided he would recite both of them in one prayer.

Nu'man b. Bashir reported that the Messenger of Allah used to recite on two 'Ids and in Friday prayer: " Glorify The name of Thy Lord, the Most High" (Surah 87 Al-Ala), and:" Has there come to thee the news of the overwhelming event" (Surah 88 Al-Ghasiyah). And when the 'Id and Jumu'a combined on a day he recited these two (surah) in both the prayers.
