Praying Two Rak'ahs After Asr

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would always pray two rak'ahs after the Asr prayer in 'A'isha's house.

Aswad and Masruq reported: We bear testimony to the fact that 'A'isha said: Never was there a day that he (the Holy Prophet) was with me and he did not observe two rak'ahs of prayer in my house, i. e. two rak'ahs after the Asr.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the sunnah or tradition of praying two rak’ahs after ”˜Asr.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith reported by 'A'isha and narrated by both Aswad and Masruq states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would always observe two rak’ahs of prayer in her house after the afternoon prayer known as ‘Asr. This is an example of a sunnah or tradition of the Prophet which Muslims are encouraged to follow. It is important to note that this practice was not obligatory but rather a voluntary act of worship which demonstrates how devoted he was to his faith. This hadith also serves as an example for Muslims today who should strive to emulate his devotion in their own lives.
