Reciting While On the Pulpit

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) asked someone to recite something to him while he was on the pulpit.

This hadith has been narratted by A'mash with the same chain of transmitters but with this addition: " The Messenger of Allah was on the pulpit when he asked me to recite to him".
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، وَمِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ التَّمِيمِيُّ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ‏.‏ وَزَادَ هَنَّادٌ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ‏ "‏ اقْرَأْ عَلَىَّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of reciting and learning. It is narrated by A'mash that when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was on the pulpit, he asked someone to recite something to him. This shows us how important it is for us to learn and recite from our holy book - The Quran. We should strive to learn more about our religion and its teachings so that we can be closer with Allah SWT. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about respect for knowledge and those who possess it; as seen in how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) respected those who could recite from memory or knew more than him in terms of religious knowledge.
