EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is a warning to those who forget verses from the Quran. Allah's Messenger, as reported by Ibn Mas'ud, said that it is wretched for someone to say they have forgotten a sura or verse, when in reality they have been made to forget it. This implies that forgetting verses from the Quran can be seen as an act of disobedience and will lead to punishment. It also serves as a reminder for us to take extra care in memorizing and understanding our holy book so we can avoid such consequences.
